Cuba, 1956. Poet, essayist, performer and editor. Has published several book of poetry, among them: Vida Nueva (Miami, 1984), Vicio de Miami (Schwarz, Miami, 1997), Confesiones del Estrangulador de Flagler Street (Deleatur, France, 1998), Por el camino de Sade/Sade’s Way (Pureplay Press, San Francisco, 2003), Cuna del pintor desconocido (Aduana Vieja, Valencia, 2011). His poetry has been translated into English, German, Check and French, and has appeared in Lichtungen (Viena), Sugar Mule Literary Magazine #15 (USA), Letras Libres (Mexico City, Madrid). Díaz de Villegas’ work as performer has been featured lately in Andrea O’Reilly Herrera’s Cuban Artists Across the Diaspora (University of Texas Press, 2011). For more than two decades Díaz de Villegas has been a columnist for the following publications: El Nuevo Herald, Encuentro de la Cultura, Diario de Cuba (Madrid), Quimera and Lateral (Barcelona). He was the editor of Cubista Magazine http://cubistamagazine.com/ (Los Angeles-Viena-Barcelona, 2004-2006).
